Minerals Council South Africa re-elects vice president

The Minerals Council South Africa has re-elected Kumba Iron Ore CEO Themba Mkhwanazi, Harmony Gold Mining CEO Peter Steenkamp, and Northam Platinum CEO Paul Dunne to serve as vice presidents for another year.

At the 132nd annual general meeting on May 25, a report showed that the sales of mineral exports totaled R 841 billion in 2021.

The Minerals Council South Africa represents 90% of the country’s total mineral production value. In 2021, the mining industry contributed R 480 billion in GDP, accounting for 8.7%, compared to R 353 billion (7.1%) in 2020.
