CBG: Guinea to have alumina refineries in coming years

15 Jun 2022 16:48 reported by Joy Liu

Souleymane Traoré, CEO of Compagnie des bauxites de Guinée (CBG), the second-largest bauxite miner in Guinea, said that Guinea will have alumina refineries in the next few years, but these refineries are capital-intensive and complicated and still under plan formulation. No details have been disclosed yet.

According to analysts, access to energy is one of the obstacles for Guinea to develop alumina refineries.

Statistics showed that CBG produced 17.4 million tons of bauxite in 2021, accounting for about one-fifth of Guinea's total output.
