South Africa's Tshipi manganese ore production & sales slide in Mar-May y-o-y

4 Jul 2022 16:08 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Tshipi Borwa, a leading manganese ore producer in South Africa, produced a total of around 883,400 tons in the period from March to May, down by 15.9% compared to the same period a year ago. The sales for export totaled approximately 756,000 tons, dropping by 10.7% year on year.

Both the output and sales of high-grade and low-grade manganese ore during the period were lower than the volume in the same period a year ago.

Jupiter Mines, the company that owns the majority of interest in the Tshipi manganese mine, said that the manganese ore market’s balance depends on the continued recovery of downstream steel demand in China and the continuous growth in steel production at other production centers.
