South Africa's Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) showed their positive attitude on the long-term agreement with original-equipment manufacturers (OEMs) about improving the capacity and lifecycle of handling equipment, which is thought to help improve the work efficiency of their 16 wharves obviously.

These wharves have been facing cease of operation in recent years. TPT plans to set up 25-year special purpose vehicles between the winning bidders and TPT at the Durban Container Terminal Pier 2 in KwaZulu-Natal, and the Ngqura Container Terminal, in the Eastern Cape.

CEO of the company said they plan to invest in more than 700 pieces of equipment, and 40% of them will be delivered within two years. Now this plan has been approved internally. TPT predicts investing around 8 billion Rand in the next five years.
