In March, Turkey’s automobile sales increased by 5.7% year on year to about 110,000 units. Among them, passenger vehicle sales went up by 9.9% from the same period a year ago to about 87,000 units, and light commercial vehicles decreased by 7.9% compared to the corresponding period a year ago to about 23,000 units. The electric vehicle soared by 209% year on year to nearly 7,000 units. The hybrid car grew by 26.7% year on year to about 11,000 units.

In the first three months, automobile sales amounted to about 296,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 25.2%. Although the sales in the first quarter were high, the country adopted a tight monetary policy to ease high inflation, so the domestic demand might still be lower than in 2023.
