The US Army Corps of Engineers announced it will create a new channel by the end of April to alleviate shipping blockages at the Port of Baltimore after a bridge collapse incident on March 26. Also, it aimed to restore full port capacity by late May.

The Port of Baltimore is ranked the first volume in the US for handling autos, light trucks, and farm and construction machinery. Biden administration provided an initial US$60 million in emergency funding to clear the channel and begin recovery, and will request Congress to fund bridge rebuilding.
