Volvo Group expands with new truck plant in Mexico

16 Apr 2024 16:21 reported by Stanley Wang

A A A
The Volvo Group revealed plans to construct a new heavy-duty truck manufacturing plant in Mexico, enhancing its existing US production. Scheduled to commence operations by 2026, the plant aims to bolster growth initiatives for Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks across the US, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America.

While the Mack LVO plant in Pennsylvania and the Volvo NRV plant in Virginia remain primary North American production hubs, the company's strategic investments underscore its commitment to expansion. With a footprint spanning approximately 1.7 million square feet, the new facility will specialize in producing heavy-duty conventional vehicles for both Volvo and Mack brands, encompassing cab body-in-white production and painting processes.

This expansion not only streamlines logistical operations for serving the southwestern/western US and Latin American markets but also fortifies the Group's industrial resilience and flexibility in North America.
