Hapag-Lloyd: Suez Canal passage unlikely soon despite ceasefire

14 Jun 2024 15:26 reported by Stanley Wang

The spokesperson of German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd pointed out that it does not expect the shipping industry to resume using the Suez Canal soon, even if a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel is reached.

The spokesperson also noted that even if there was to be a ceasefire now, this does not mean that the Houthi attacks will stop immediately. After the Suez Canal reopens, it would take at least four to six weeks to rearrange schedules and normalize operations.
