Sluggish real estate market in Germany impacts Taiwan's screw exports

20 Jun 2024 17:10 reported by Stanley Wang

A A A
Germany is Taiwan's second-largest market for screw exports. However, due to the sluggish local economy, Taiwan's screw exports to Germany declined by 17.53% from January to May 2024 compared to the same period a year ago. At almost the same period, in the first four months of this year, 71,100 German building permits for apartments were approved, dropping by 21% from the same period a year ago.

Most of Taiwan's screw exports to Germany were applied in construction, and many screw manufacturers in southern Taiwan rely on their European customers, particularly those in Germany. However, the poor sales of readily available houses in Germany have indirectly impacted the export volume of Taiwanese screws.
