Electricity bill surge sparks political clash in India's Chhattisgarh

A recent spike in electricity bills in India's Chhattisgarh has ignited a heated debate between the Congress and BJP. Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel accused the BJP government of imposing higher electricity tariffs, burdening consumers financially.

The Congress announced further protests against power cuts and price hikes. Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Rajeev Chakraborty attributed the tariff hike to rising coal prices and transportation costs, emphasizing ongoing efforts to modernize the state's electrical infrastructure and ensure reliable electricity services.
