Ukrainian Railways will receive EUR42.95 million from the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to enhance its railway infrastructure. The funding was approved on July 16 and will support the development of European gauge tracks to improve compatibility and increase capacity.

The total project cost is EUR85.91 million, with CEF covering half and Ukrainian Railways contributing the rest. The project includes the reconstruction of railway facilities and the introduction of European gauge tracks from Chop to Lviv and from Lviv to the Romanian border, along with electrification.

The initiative also involves updating the Lviv railway junction to align with the Trans-European Transport Network and designing an electrified European-gauge track from Pavlove-2 to Uzhhorod.
