CAA: Argentina's crude steel production falls by 17.8% in Aug y-o-y

According to the latest data from Argentina's Steel Chamber CAA, the country's crude steel production totaled 346,900 tons in August of this year, representing a monthly growth of 10.5% but a year-on-year fall of 17.8%.

In a statement from CAA, it indicated that some signs of recovery are beginning to be seen in the metal consuming sectors such as automotive, agricultural machinery, packaging, and energy.

However, although there are positive signs in Argentina's steel industry, CAA made claims on both the distorting taxes that burden the steel industry and its value chain and the recent modification of the technical regulation of steel for construction that could facilitate the import of steel to the country.
