Tosyalı Toyo, a joint venture between Tosyalı Holding and Toyo Kohan, has begun trial production, planning to double its production capacity of tinplate, to 650,000 tons from the current 325,000 tons.

The company said it would fully invest around US$200 million in new production capacity by the end of this year, which also included production of new tin-free steel. With the new investment, production capacity for durable and healthy packaging steel produced with high technology would be increased as well.

Tosyalı Toyo, 51% owned by Tosyali and 49% held by Toyo Kohan, has an annual rolling capacity of 1.2 million tons, mainly producing tinplate, galvanized, pre-painted, cold-rolled, pickled hot-rolled products. It is the only producer in Turkey that can reduce the thickness to 0.12 mm in tinplate products with a width of 1,300 mm and 0.20 mm in other cold-rolled iron and steel products.
