From January to October 2024, the number of new car registrations in the EU was 8.9 million, a year-on-year increase of 0.7%. Among them, the number of new car registrations in October increased by 1.1% year-on-year, mainly due to the increase of 7.2% in Spain and 6% in Germany.

In October, the number of hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) registrations increased by 17.5%, and the market share increased by 33.3%.

Battery electric vehicles (BEV) sales increased to 124,907 units in October, with a market share of 14.4%, but the number of registrations in October fell by 26.6%, and sales in the first ten months of this year fell by nearly 5% year-on-year.

Gasoline car sales in October were 266,498 units, a decrease of 6.8%, with a market share of 30.8%, lower than 33.4% in the same period last year.

Diesel car sales in October were 94,587 units, a decrease of 7.6%, with a market share of 10.9%.

In summary, nearly two-thirds of the EU market has experienced a decline.
