Cai Yongyu: Taiwan’s screw sales to US may benefit from Trump’s policy

US President-elect Donald Trump’s "America First" policy was expected to benefit the traditional manufacturing industries and drive demand for steel products, which will have a positive effect on Taiwan's screw sales, said Cai Yongyu, Chairman of Taiwan Industrial Fasteners Institute.

However, due to the intention to eliminate the supply chain of China, industry players need to respond appropriately and expand the market.

The US is Taiwan's largest export market for screws, with sales to the US accounting for 47% of total exports in the first three quarters of this year.

Cai Yongyu called on the government to give priority to the use of Taiwan-origin materials, and industry players to avoid illicit transshipment by using China-origin materials, and promote domestic and foreign sales to create business opportunities.
