Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Berhad, a Malaysia-based aluminum company, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) to establish a solar module fabricated aluminum frame facility at the Samalaju Industrial Park in Bintulu, Sarawak.

The project, with a planned annual production capacity of 80,000 tons, is expected to start operations by mid-2026.

Under the MoU, BDA will own a 20% stake in the project, and Press Metal will hold the remaining 80%. The total estimated investment for the project amounts to RM600 million, consisting of a 20% capital contribution proportional to the parties' shareholdings, with the remaining 80% secured through external financing.

This project seeks to strengthen Sarawak's standing in the renewable energy industry, generate employment opportunities, and stimulate industrial growth in the region.
