Arconic to lay off 163 employees at Lafayette facility

Arconic, a Pittsburgh-based aluminum products manufacturer, announced plans to lay off around 163 employees at its Lafayette facility in Indiana due to the closure of the tube mill department. The workforce reduction is attributed to external market factors and the loss of two key automotive driveshaft customers, according to the spokesperson.

The Lafayette facility produces aluminum extrusions for various industries, including automotive, aerospace, and commercial transportation. The layoffs will begin on April 4, but the exact number of affected employees is still unknown.

Despite the layoffs, Arconic expects a good long-term outlook for the Lafayette operations and will continue its commitment to the facility, employees, and the community.
