China's new energy vehicle (NEV) market continued its growth in February 2025, according to preliminary data from the China Passenger Car Association. China’s retail sales of NEVs reached 720,000 units in February, a year-on-year surge of 85% and a month-on-month drop of 3%.

Cumulatively, retail NEV sales for the first two months of 2025 totaled around 1.47 million units, up by 38% year compared to the same period a year ago.

In February, NEV wholesale sales reached 842,000 units, soaring by 82% year on year but down by 5% month on month. Total wholesale sales for January and February amounted to roughly 1.7 million units, a 49% increase from the corresponding period a year earlier.
