Taiwan’s screw exports to US may benefit order transfer

10 Apr 2025 10:52 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
The US imposed the original tariffs of 0-12.5% on Taiwan's screws plus a Section 232 tariff of 25%, and did not impose the newly announced 10% baseline tariff and 32% reciprocal tariff.

Compared with China's tariffs of up to 70% or even a potential 104%, Taiwan will benefit from the order transfer effect. However, the chairman of the Taiwan Fastener Trading Association stressed that industry players should not share tariff costs with their US customers and should maintain the high-quality positioning of their products to avoid falling into low-price competition with China or Southeast countries.
