International crude oil prices plunge as OPEC+ plans to accelerate production increase

Sources told Reuters that several OPEC+ member countries planned to propose that the group accelerate crude oil production increases for a second consecutive month in June. This news caused international crude oil prices to drop on April 23.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for the June delivery decreased by US$1.40 (2.2%), reaching US$62.27/barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for the June delivery fell by US$1.32 (1.96%), settling at US$66.12/barrel.

Before the OPEC+ news emerged, Brent crude reached an intraday high of US$68.65/barrel, the highest since April 4.
