Taiwan mulls AD action on surging, cheap Vietnam cold-rolled stainless steel

30 Apr 2025 15:21 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
It was said that Taiwanese stainless steel upstream manufacturers are considering filing an anti-dumping (AD) case against cold-rolled stainless steel coils/sheets from Vietnam. Stainless steel imports from Vietnam, mainly 300 series, have jumped dramatically since 2023, reaching over 31,000 tons in 2024 and remaining high in the first quarter of 2025.

The significantly lower prices of Vietnamese sources are reportedly hurting local mills and distributors. Domestic distributors said they've had to cut prices to compete with the influx of cheaper Vietnamese materials, pushing prices for both local and imported steel to near or below cost amid the current weak market demand.
