China exported a massive amount of steel in April and would very possibly maintain this strong trend at least until May. 

In April, according to statistics, China exported about 10.46 million tons of steel products to overseas markets, a growth of 13.4% compared with the same period of the past year. The extraordinary steel export performance in April probably could be attributed not only to the competitive price of Chinese steel, but also to the government's effort to curb illegal market activities in which unlicensed exporters use the customs license of qualified exporters. 

In the first four months of 2025, China's net steel exports increased by 9.8% to 35.82 million tons in total.
