Walsin Lihwa’s May revenue drops m-o-m, rises y-o-y

Walsin Lihwa, a stainless steel wire rod and cable manufacturer in Taiwan, announced its consolidated revenue at NT$15.71 billion in May, down by 11.03% month on month but up by 0.20% year on year, bringing its January-May revenue to NT$78.24 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.52%, the fifth highest for the period.

The monthly decline was primarily due to reduced nickel pig iron sales, while the yearly growth was due to the acquisition of Germany's DMV stainless steel seamless tube plant at the end of last year.

Walsin Lihwa's wire and cable division continues to benefit from Taipower's Grid Resilience Strengthening Construction Plan, maintaining stable performance with full order books.

For the stainless steel business, stable second-quarter shipments are expected in Taiwan, driven by earlier orders from customers seeking to avoid US tariff uncertainty. The company remains cautious on the outlook for its resource business due to volatile nickel prices and global economic uncertainties.
