Evergreen’s Ever Lunar loses containers near Callao, disrupting port operations

5 Aug 2025 15:58 reported by Rita Su

A A A
On August 1, Evergreen’s 8,500 TEU vessel Ever Lunar lost about 50 containers off Callao, Peru, forcing temporary port closure and shipping delays.

The incident occurred while waiting to berth, during strong winds and rough seas, causing severe ship rolling and container stack collapse. No hazardous materials were involved, and no environmental damage was reported.

Evergreen noted that recent challenging sea conditions, including tsunamis and swells, contributed to the accident.

Just on July 29, another Evergreen ship, Ever Feat, experienced a similar container collapse in South America, raising concerns over the company’s cargo securing practices.
