Egypt strengthens energy security with diversified gas supply contracts

Egypt has secured a diversified portfolio of gas supply contracts with different durations to strengthen energy security amid rising regional tensions and concerns over potential supply disruptions.

The government is committed to meeting energy demand across all sectors and is closely monitoring supplies to ensure uninterrupted delivery to key industrial and service activities. He said the diversified contracting structure helps maintain stable and reliable energy supplies even amid external challenges.

Badawi noted that these measures are part of a broader strategy to enhance energy security and manage risks from regional developments. He said current efforts include securing strategic reserves of gasoline, diesel, and butane, ensuring LNG imports through three Floating Storage and Regasification Units at Ain Sokhna and Aqaba, and monitoring supply around the clock.

Egypt combines domestic gas production with imports from long-term contracts and spot LNG purchases, a supply mix that supports industrial and power demand even if Israeli gas imports are disrupted again.
