Sandfire Resources produces first copper concentrate at Motheo mine in Botswana

Sandfire Resources, an Australian mining company, said its Motheo copper mine in Botswana produced the first batch of copper concentrate and became the second copper mine in the Kalahari Copper Belt.

The commissioning activities are now being completed. The annual processing capacity was expected to be raised to 3.2 million tons and achieved in the September quarter of the fiscal year 2024.

This copper has been under construction for the past two years. The first shipment of copper concentrates was scheduled for the middle of this year.
