China’s Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG) has inked an agreement with Rio Tinto's Simfer to supply equipment for its Simandou iron ore project in Guinea.

XCMG, a leading Chinese construction machinery manufacturer, will provide nearly CNY 800 million worth of core mining equipment for the Simandou project. This includes dozens of 230-metric-ton mining trucks.

The Simandou mine is located in the southeast of Guinea and is known as the key to the green transition of the global steel value chain. The mine will be the world's largest and highest-grade iron ore, with an annual production capacity of 120 million metric tons, and is expected to start in 2025.
