Turkey’s iron ore imports hike in Q1-Q3

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s iron ore imports totaled around 8.14 million tons in the first three quarters of this year, growing by 26% compared to the year-ago period. These imports were worth around US$1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 27%.

Among them, imports from Brazil were around 4.29 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%, followed by Ukraine’s 1.01 million tons and South Africa’s 861,000 tons, both soaring a lot year on year.

In September alone, Turkey imported a total of roughly 1.04 million tons of iron ore, surging by 146% month on month and falling by 5% year on year. The import value hiked greatly by 194% month on month and dropped by 10% year on year to US$115 million.
