Turkey records fewer pig iron imports in Jan-Oct

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported a total of around 1.1 million tons of pig iron in the first ten months of this year, falling by 6.6% compared to the corresponding period a year ago.

Among them, Russia remained the largest supplier of Turkey’s pig iron imports, with a supply of roughly 693,000 tons, down by 11% year on year. Kazakhstan ranked second with around 157,000 tons, followed by Ukraine’s 72,400 tons.

In October alone, Turkey’s pig iron imports totaled approximately 98,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 35% and a year-on-year drop of 26%. The import value was roughly US$38.5 million in the month.
