Ivanhoe Mines targets higher copper & zinc production for 2025-2026

Canada's Ivanhoe Mines’ Kamoa-Kakula copper complex and the Kipushi zinc project in the Democratic Republic of Congo hit record production in 2024, and the company has set an even higher target for 2025 and 2026.

Kamoa-Kakula’s copper concentrate production reached 437,061 tons in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 12%. Production in the fourth quarter of 2024 hiked by 15% quarter on quarter to 133,819 tons, of which output in December reached a record high at 47,058 tons.

The production guidance of copper concentrate for 2025 is 520,000 to 580,000 tons and 600,000 tons for 2026.

In terms of the Kipushi zinc mine, the zinc concentrate production reached 50,307 tons in 2024, including a monthly record of 14,900 tons in December, approaching nameplate capacity.

The production target of the Kipushi zinc mine is set at 180,000 to 240,000 tons by 2025 and more than 250,000 tons by 2026.

The company has continued optimization of operations to achieve steady growth.
