Turkey imports less pig iron in Jan-Nov 2024

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported a total of around 1.24 million tons of pig iron in the first 11 months of last year, falling by 3.3% compared to the corresponding period a year ago.

Among them, Russia remained the largest supplier of Turkey’s pig iron imports, with a supply of roughly 813,000 tons, down by 4.8% year on year. Kazakhstan ranked second with around 186,000 tons, followed by Ukraine’s 102,400 tons.

In November alone, Turkey’s pig iron imports totaled approximately 187,000 tons, a month-on-month surge of 92% and a year-on-year hike of 49%. The import value was roughly US$73.8 million in the month.
