Uzbekistan introduces export duties on metal scrap & copper

25 Mar 2025 15:17 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on March 14 introducing export duties on 86 types of goods, including non-ferrous metal scrap and copper. The policy, which aligns with World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations, will become effective on July 1, 2025.

The changes include an imposition of a 100% export duty on metal scrap and a 10% export duty on copper.

Previously, metal scrap exports required government approval, but this restriction has been replaced with duties, making the process more transparent. The policy is expected to encourage domestic deeper processing and production of high-value-added goods.
