Turkey decreases pig iron imports in Jan-Feb

Statistics from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) showed that Turkey imported a total of around 212,000 tons of pig iron in the first two months of this year, falling by 26% compared to the year-ago level.

Among them, Russia was the major supplier with nearly 133,000 tons, a year-on-year drop of 36%. Indonesia ranked second with 47,100 tons, followed by Kazakhstan’s 26,000 tons.

In February alone, Turkey’s pig iron imports fell by 67% month on month and by 69% year on year to 53,000 tons.
