Anglo American sees solid iron ore output in Q1 2025

Anglo American reported a steady rise in iron ore production for the first quarter of 2025, supported by strong results from its Minas-Rio operation in Brazil. Total iron ore output increased by 1.9% year on year, with Minas-Rio delivering a record performance.

In South Africa, production at the company’s Kumba division saw a slight decline of 3%, although sales volumes improved by 6.6% compared to the same period last year.

Metallurgical coal output, however, faced a sharp drop of 41% due to operational setbacks, including a suspension at the Grosvenor mine and the divestment of interests in Jellinbah.

Despite the mixed results across commodities, Anglo American maintained its iron ore production guidance at 57-61 million tons for 2025.
