Turkey imports more scrap in Apr

Statistics from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) showed that Turkey imported a total of roughly 1.9 million tons of scrap in April, a month-on-month hike of 21% and a year-on-year increase of 24%.

Among them, the supply from the Netherlands was the most, totaling roughly 331,000 tons, a year-on-year surge of 70%. The US and the UK ranked second and third, with roughly 279,000 tons (down by 23% year on year) and 227,000 tons (up by 49% year on year), respectively.

In the first four months of this year, Turkey imported a total of around 6.6 million tons of scrap, dropping by 3.7% compared to the corresponding period a year earlier.
