Metso Corporation, a Finnish industrial machinery company, announced on June 17, 2025, that it has secured a contract to provide key process equipment for China’s steelmaker Jinnan Iron & Steel Group's new iron ore concentrator plant in Sohar, Oman.

This greenfield facility aims to produce 12.6 million tons of high-grade iron ore concentrate per year, with operations commencing in 2027. The project intends to establish Oman as a major supplier in the global Direct Reduction (DR) grade iron ore market.

Metso's delivery includes several Vertimill® VTM-4500 mills and ball mills for the grinding circuit, along with HRT High Rate Thickeners and Larox® FFP3512 filters for beneficiation and dewatering. Besides, a large slurry pump package is also part of the order. The value of this order was booked in Metso's Minerals segment during the second quarter of 2025.
