TUIK: Turkey’s scrap imports fall in Jan-Jun, US supplies most

Statistics from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) showed that Turkey imported a total of roughly 9.4 million tons of scrap in the first six months of this year, a year-on-year decrease of 5.8%. The US supplied the most to Turkey, with around 1.72 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 19%.

In June alone, Turkey’s scrap imports amounted to roughly 1.2 million tons, down by 8.6% compared to the previous month and by 24% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, the supply from the US was the most, totaling roughly 386,000 tons, a year-on-year hike of 9.6%. The Netherlands ranked second, with roughly 132,000 tons, up by 50% year on year.
