Ferroglobe increases ferrosilicon production by up to 40,000 tons

A A A
Ferroglobe, the world’s leading supplier of silicon metal, silicon-based and manganese-based specialty alloys and ferroalloys, has converted production at two furnaces from silicon metal to ferrosilicon, a move that will increase the company's annual ferrosilicon production by around 35,000 to 40,000 tons. This strategic change, affecting one furnace in the US and one in Europe, was made due to more favorable economics.

Ferroglobe's second-quarter adjusted EBITDA reached US$22 million, showing a significant turnaround from the previous quarter. This was due to increased sales and strategic moves, including converting some production to ferrosilicon and investment in new technology.

Ferroglobe is optimistic about 2026, expecting that trade policies will further improve the market. The company believed its operational discipline and flexible global footprint would help it manage short-term market fluctuations.
