Turkey imports less scrap Jan-July

Statistics from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) showed that Turkey imported a total of roughly 10.9 million tons of scrap in the first seven months of this year, a year-on-year decrease of 6%.

During the period, the US supplied the most to Turkey, with around 2 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 19%. The Netherlands ranked second with about 1.75 million tons, a year-on-year hike of 21%, followed by the UK’s 1.26 million tons, down by 7.3% year on year.

In July alone, Turkey’s scrap imports totaled roughly 1.5 million tons, up by 22% compared to the previous month but down by 8% from the same month a year ago.
