US’ steel scrap exports slide in Jul m-o-m, y-o-y

According to statistics from the US International Trade Commission (USITC), the US exported around 997,000 tons of steel scrap in July, slightly decreasing by 0.7% from the previous month and falling by 23% from the same month a year ago.

These exports were worth around US$435 million, down by 1.9% month on month and by 21% year on year.

Among them, Turkey was the top destination with roughly 264,000 tons, sliding by 17% month on month and by 36% year on year. Bangladesh ranked second with a procurement of about 161,500 tons, followed by Mexico with 107,100 tons and Taiwan with 101,300 tons.
