Brazilian mining company Minérios Itaúna Ltda (Minerita) has awarded Finland-based Metso a major contract to provide comminution equipment for its iron ore project in Minas Gerais.

The project, targeting production of 4.5 million tons of high-grade premium pellet feed annually in two phases, highlights Brazil’s growing role in premium iron ore output.

The energy-efficient system for the first phase will include a Nordberg® C160™ jaw crusher, a Nordberg® MP800 cone crusher, an HRC™e high-pressure grinding roll (HPGR), as well as a 3.9 MW Select™ ball mill. Regrinding will be carried out using two Vertimill® VTM4500 stirred mills.

Minerita emphasized that its long-standing collaboration with Metso since 2010 was a key factor in the selection. The investment supports both strategic objectives and long-term values.
