Peru’s iron ore production grows in Aug m-o-m, y-o-y

According to the data from the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM), Peru produced a total of around 1.14 million tons of iron ore in August, rising by 9.6% compared to the previous month and by 8% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, the production of Shougang Hierro Perú, the largest domestic iron ore producer, accounted for the largest proportion at roughly 1.12 million tons, up by 11% month on month and by 7% year on year.

In the first eight months of this year, Peru’s iron ore production slid by 19% year on year to about 7.3 million tons, of which Shougang Hierro Perú’s output occupied nearly 7.1 million tons.
