Norway’s Rana Gruber aims for high-quality iron ore concentrate by 2029

Rana Gruber, the only iron ore producer in Norway, plans to transition to producing high-quality iron ore concentrate (IOC) with 67% iron content by 2029. This shift builds on the successful completion of the Fe65 project, which secured stable production at 65% iron, an increase from 62% in 2020.

CEO Gunnar Moje said that providing high-quality ore is important for cutting emissions in the steel industry. The company aims to meet the growing demand for low-carbon steel production by increasing its high-quality concentrate (Fe67) output while maintaining low operational costs.

Rana Gruber’s ability to improve iron content makes it a key supplier for steelmakers adopting green technologies globally.
