Mineral Resources (MinRes), a Western Australian mining services company, has officially begun construction on its Lamb Creek iron ore project in the Pilbara region.

The open-pit mine is designed to produce approximately 7.5 million tons of iron ore annually over a mine life exceeding five years. Lamb Creek is expected to produce its first iron ore in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2026.

Concurrently, the company will close its nearby, mature Wonmunna operation, which has been in operation for five years.

MinRes also operates the Iron Valley project within the Pilbara Hub, bringing the total annual production capacity of these three projects to 10 million tons.
