Brazil’s scrap exports surge in Nov m-o-m, y-o-y

Data from Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade (MDIC) showed that Brazil exported approximately 72,000 tons of scrap in November, representing a 9.2% increase from October and a 58.9% rise from the same period a year earlier. India remained the top destination, accounting for 52.3% of shipments, or approximately 36,000 tons, followed by Bangladesh with 31.9% (approximately 8,100 tons) and the United Arab Emirates with 2.7% (approximately 2,300 tons). From January to November, Brazil’s scrap exports reached around 811,000 tons, up by 25.1% year on year.

On the import side, Brazil imported approximately 1,300 tons of scrap in November, which was above October’s 968 tons but 36.3% lower than the same period a year earlier. Germany and Paraguay supplied 72.7% and 12% of the volume. Imports totaled about 11,000 tons in the first 11 months, down by 29% year on year.
