Turkey’s scrap imports decrease in Jan-Nov 2025

According to statistics from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported a total of roughly 17 million tons of scrap in the first 11 months of last year, a year-on-year decrease of 7%.

During the period, the US supplied the most to Turkey, with about 3 million tons, a year-on-year fall of 23%, followed by the Netherlands’ 2.5 million tons and the UK’s 2 million tons.

In November alone, Turkey’s scrap imports hiked by 35% month on month and fell by 7% year on year, reaching about 1.7 million tons. These scrap imports were valued at approximately US$629 million, a month-on-month increase of 35% and a year-on-year fall of 10%.
