Kolkata-based Super Smelters Ltd. planned to invest approximately Rs 10,000 crore in a new large-scale steel plant within the Vidarbha region. The company is currently weighing sites in Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, and Wardha to leverage local high-grade iron ore reserves and improved infrastructure.

According to Ashish Kale, President of the Association for Industrial Development, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government is anticipated on February 6 at the "Advantage Vidarbha 2026" event.

This project targets Gadchiroli’s 178 million tons of high-grade iron ore, potentially transforming the district into a primary industrial hub. This capital injection reflects the state's strategic policy support for mining and manufacturing growth in eastern Maharashtra.
