Brazil’s iron ore exports fall in Jan m-o-m, y-o-y

Brazil’s iron ore exports dropped in January, reaching a low of about 28.5 million tons, according to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC). This figure, hitting the lowest export levels since March 2025, was down by 28.7% compared to the previous month and by 7.6% from the same month a year earlier.

The export revenue was US$2.05 billion, down by 24.9% from the previous month and by 8.6% year on year. China was the top buyer, importing 23.05 million tons. Other significant destinations included Malaysia at 859,000 tons, Japan at 785,900 tons, and India at 722,400 tons.
