Ferrexpo restarts pellet production at Poltava plant

Swiss-based iron ore company Ferrexpo has resumed operations at its Poltava Mining and Processing Plant in Ukraine. This return to production follows a temporary suspension in January 2026. Improved domestic and imported electricity availability and costs enabled the restart as spring arrives.

Currently, one pelletizing line is active. The company is already shipping premium iron ore products to clients across Central and Eastern Europe using its private railcar fleet.

Ferrexpo's interim executive chair, Lucio Genovese, said that these operational improvements are in line with the seasonal transition. This move restores an important supply chain for the region’s steel industry after the winter hiatus.
