Sovereign Metals Limited and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Mitsui) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the supply of natural rutile concentrate from Sovereign's Kasiya Rutile-Graphite Project in Malawi.

This agreement is expected to have the delivery of up to 70,000 tons of natural rutile concentrate annually for an initial four-year term, with a five-year extension option.

The material supports Japan’s titanium industry, which produces the highest-quality titanium alloys for aerospace, defense, and medical sectors, as well as advanced manufacturing applications.

The Kasiya site currently operates a pilot plant. Projections indicate yearly outputs of 222,000 tons of rutile and 233,000 tons of graphite over a 25-year lifespan.
